5th century BC

Egypt was ruled by the Persians under the 27th dynasty of Egypt. The Achamaenid Persian Empire ruled most of what is now Pakistan. The Persians had conquered part of India. Magadha was an important state. The "Spring and Autumn" period of the Zhou dynasty came to an end and the Warring States period of Chinese history began.

4th century BC

Egypt was conquered by the Macedonians under Alexander the Great. His general Ptolemy established the Ptolemaic dynasty. Alexander conquered most of what is now Pakistan, and the Seleucids who followed him retained control of the region. The Nanda empire ruled much of India, and Alexander the Great reached India but turned back. The Mauryan empire arose. China was in its Warring States period. There is evidence in what is now Indonesia of cultural influence from South India, and the Tarumanagara kingdom began to be noticeable.

3rd century BC

Egypt was ruled by the Greek Ptolemaic dynasy. In Pakistan, the Greco-Bactrian empire broke away from the Seleucids. in India, the Mauryan empire flourished. In China, the Warring States period ended with the short-lived Qin dynasty, which was followed by the Han dynasty.
