At present, this will be limited to considering the larger cities of the world. No further attempt at classifying or analyzing them is yet included, although this may be added in the future. This page has a limited list of the largest cities in the world. These are urbanized areas including suburbs and surrounding areas and may include more than one political subdivision.

The list of communities may be searched by peoples of the world.

Within these groupings, a few nations have been connected to cities in them. Western civilization has many of them. Anglic peoples such as the United Kingdom (1), United States (11), and Canada (1) have several. Latin peoples have several. I have not yet identified any in Italic peoples, but French peoples including France (1) Hispanic peoples including Hispanic Mexican American peoples such as Mexico (1) and Hispanic Colombian American peoples such as Colombia (1), Hispanic Argentine American peoples such as Argentina (1) and Lusitanic peoples such as Brazil (2) have several. Germanic peoples and Northeast European (1) peoples such as Russia (1) have others.

Asiatic peoples have several of them. Middle Eastern peoples have several of them. North African peoples are also important. Egypt (1) is important. Turkey (1) is important. Persian peoples such as those of Iran (1) have several. South Asian peoples including India (7) Pakistan (2), and Bangladesh (1) have a number of prominent cities. Oriental peoples including China (10) , Japan (3), and South Korea (1) have some of the world's largest cities. Southeast Asian peoples also have a number of large and prominent cities. The Southeast Asian Mainland including Vietnam (1), Thailand (1) has several. The Southeast Asian Archipelagoes including Indonesia (1) and the Philippines (1) have various cities. Central Asian cities are generally much smaller.

African peoples and American Indian peoples have fewer and smaller cities.

Social structure and change

Social changes are significant. Particular changes such as the agricultural revolution can be connected. The agrarian revolution including Bronze age developments, early iron age developments, late iron age developments, and modernization can be connected. The industrial revolution with early, middle, and late industrial or computerization stages can be connected. Social change processes including innovation, transmission, adaptation, and extinction can be considered. Social change factors including institutional change, cultural change, demographic change, and natural change will be useful.

Social types including hunting and gathering, horticultural, agrarian, and industrial societies such as early industrial, middle industrial, and late industrial societies are also useful. Social structure including community and regional structure, class structure, institutional structure, cultural structure, and anthropological structure will be useful.

Institutions

The institutions of a community form much of its structure. These can often be identified by community architecture. Religion is vital. Particular religious traditions can often be identified. Abrahamic, asiatic, Secular and pagan religions predominate in different communities. Religious organization, practice, and belief can be connected. Government including particular governments, government activity, government structure, and law is significant. Economics including economic systems, industries, companies, and economic activity will also be useful. Education including teaching, research, cultural institutions, educational organization, and particular schools witll be signficant. These institutions include families.

Culture is also highly significant. Behavioral culture will be significant. Cultural events are also important. Recreation and entertainment, occupations, and customs will be useful. Conceptual culture is important. Philosophy including metaphysics, aesthetics, ethics, epistemology, and particular schools and doctrines will also be further considered. Applied science, mathematics, literature and literary works, graphics, and language will also be further considered. Material culture is important. Miscellanous artifacts are not highly visible. Communications technology can sometimes be seen. Transportation networks are highly visible. Clothing and foodstuffs are more or less incidental. Buildings are highly significant. Industrial technology including tools is less visible.

Anthropology is closely tied to communities and cities. Particular groups may be helpful. The physical location and environment of cities is a matter of human geography. European geography is the location for some cities, Asian geography for others, Southwest Asia for a few. North American geography will be highly useful. Human ecology, including the influence of people on the environment, relations with other life, and the environment on people is also significant. Physical anthropology, demography, and social foundations can also be considered.

Personal studies will be useful if I can connect biographies to particular cities. Psychology and the human body are less directly connected. Areas of science will be connected as the site develops. Biology is somewhat important. Earth science is also valuable, as is physical geography. Astronomy, chemistry, and physics are generally not directly useful.
